Sunday 28th June

Service Leader: David Roche
Preacher: Ewen Todd
Worship Leaders: Amy Roche & Karim Girgis

Readings: Psalm 30   --- Matthew 113:24-30, 34-43

Collect
O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Hidden in Plain Sight
With opposition to his ministry growing Jesus wanted to share the secret of the Kingdom of God with his disciples through parables, but to those on the outside these were incomprehensible: "they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding." Much is hidden in plain sight, and only after the coming of the Holy Spirit could they and we understand their true meaning.

Please stay after the service for refreshments. All welcome!

Trusting God in the Storm
On Sunday January 25 1736 John Wesley's Journal records his observation of Moravian missionaries. They were on board a ship bound for America when hit by a terrifying storm, most passengers were crying in fear yet the Moravian missionaries held a service and calmly sung praises to God. Wesley writes ‘From them I went to their crying, trembling neighbours, and pointed out to them the difference in the hour of trial, between him that feareth God, and him that feareth him not. At twelve the wind fell. This was the most glorious day which I have hitherto seen’. Following Jesus does not mean that we never encounter trouble, pain, fear, but we can learn to trust in Him, lean on Him and in faith know for ourselves the peace he longs to give us and that when he said he would never leave us or forsake us he meant it! What ever the storm we may encounter Jesus cares for us and is there with us, not looking from the shoreline.

Collect
Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts whereby we call you Father: give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that we and all creation may be brought to the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Next Sunday, 28th June, there will be a Jumble Sale after Morning Worship. Come and browse for bargains!!!

Service details for Sunday 14th June and Church notices

Sunday 14th June
Second Sunday after Trinity

11:15am Morning Praise

Service Leader Kristi Lonheim
Preacher : Peter Ford
Worship Leader: David Roche

Readings:
1 Samuel 15:34 - 16:13
2 Corinthians 5:14-17
Mark 4:26-34

Collect
Lord, you have taught us that all our doings, without love are nothing worth: send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you. Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ's sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We all know that the Christian life is not always clear and simple path. Much of the time, we face situations that are difficult to resolve or explain: natural disasters; the tragedies of political and religious conflict; disappointment with the shortcomings in ourselves or in others. Nevertheless, we confess that God is at work in ways we do not understand. The Season of Pentecost reminds us that much of the Holy Spirit's involvement in the world today is hidden from our view. Today, we consider those around us -- relatives, friends, colleagues -- who seem to be slow or unresponsive to the roles that they have in the family, at work, in society, or in the church. We remember that the Spirit is still at work among them -- and within us -- bringing to fruition God's purposes according to God's timing.

Reverend Imad Zoorob presiding
Service Leader & Preacher: David Roche
Worship Leaders: Jonathan Acker & Kristi Lonheim

Readings: 1 Peter 2: 4-10, Luke 9: (51) 57-62
Collect
O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you, mercifully accept our prayers and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do no good thing without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in the keeping of your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

The Cost of Following Christ
Today our Gospel reading focuses on the important consideration we must give when we say to Jesus ‘I will follow You’. There can be no playing games with the master, no double mindedness, if we belong to Him our lives are not our own. He has called us out of darkness into marvellous light; when Jesus is our first priority we see that he has called us to be a ‘holy priesthood’, we belong to Father God and we belong with His people. Having received mercy, grace and new life we are to proclaim His Kingdom. In all we do, we should remember the Lord’s encouragement ‘freely you have received; freely give’.

Notices:

At our AGM we set a budget of $42,000, which means we need an Offering of $10,500 per quarter, and we achieved that in the first quarter of 2015! As we look forward to Summer, when the Offering is traditionally low, please consider how you give to All Saints’. Our Mission Giving means that we donate 10% of our Offering to charity and we will see that in evidence today as we present a cheque to Rev Imad for St Luke’s Centre.

Service details for Trinity Sunday and church notices

Sunday 31 May 2015
Trinity Sunday
11:15am Morning Praise
Service Leader & Preacher: David Roche
Worship Leader: Andrea Smith

Readings: Philippians 2: 1-11, Matthew 3: 1-17

Collect
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

The Tri-unity of God
Today we explore who God is as Trinity! The Athanasian Creed from the 5th century says, 'we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; neither confounding the Persons; nor dividing the Essence. For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty coeternal, and yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal...the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties; but one Almighty. So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God'. Connect all the dots by using only 4 straight lines, connected end-to-end.
