All Saints' is hosting a four week Prayer Ministry Training course that will be starting on Wednesday January 11th at 6:00pm until 7.30pm. Sarah and Nabil Shehadi will be hosting this course at the Vicarage.

It's a video followed by a discussion and/or practical session. It's easy and fun too! A great way to improve/learn how to pray for others with more care and confidence.

Autumn Preaching Series - Training in the wilderness (TitW)

One of the overarching themes in the Bible is The People of God – God calling a people for Himself. We see this theme from the call of Abraham and the Exodus (Ex 6:7) to Revelation (21:3).This series will look at the lessons the 12 tribes learned after the Exodus, during the wilderness wanderings, about their relationship with God. This will help us at All Saints (from all tribes and all nations!), at the beginning of this new term, to understand our identity as the people of God. We will celebrate this, of course, on All Saints’ Day. The narrative from the Book of Numbers will form the basic reference – other scripture passages (Epistle and Gospel) to be chosen by the preachers.

This is to let you know of some changes in services the coming two weeks, due to the expected protests that will be downtown.

Sunday 13th will be an Informal Communion Service at 11:45am. All the Youth Group and Young Church will start with us in church for communion before going out to their teaching time.

Sunday 20th will be a Worship and Word service at 11:45am. Everyone will start together in church, then Young Church will go out for teaching time. The Youth Group will be staying in church as the Prison Ministry team will be sharing during the service about the work they are doing with women in Lebanese prisons.

At 7:00pm there will be the Worship and Prayer evening, for one hour, in the small chapel.

Sunday 27th will start with the 8:00am BCP 1662 Holy Communion service in the small chapel,

followed by All Age Morning Praise service at 11:45am.

This Sunday some roads will be closed around the downtown area. We advise you to check the situation and find suitable alternative routes when coming to Hamra.

This coming Sunday is the Beirut Marathon, and as usual, the roads around All Saints' will be closed. Therefore there is NO service at All Saints' this Sunday.

However there will be an alternative Worship and Word service held at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Mansourieh at 11:00am. All who can make it up to this area are welcome to attend. Map is attached.

For those who are down in Beirut, Rev. Nabil will be leading the group cheering the runners on the corniche beside the church at 9:00am.

Following the service there will be our Used Clothes Sale in the downstairs hall, a great place to find some bargains and support the All Saints' Community Relief Fund. This time there will also be toys and household goods on offer so come prepared. Consecration and Inauguration of the Bell Tower

Greetings, Just a few reminders from All Saints' International Congregation! Tomorrow 25th is Ash Wednesday. There will be a communion service in the church at 7:30pm, all are welcome. Next Sunday March 1st is Holy Communion at 11:00am. The Youth Group will start downstairs for Youth Praise and the other Young Church classes will begin in church, then go down for teaching time before all the Young Church join the congregation for communion. Also please be praying for Tom Beathe as he will be baptised during this service. Following the service we will be hosting a community meal in the church hall downstairs and all are invited to stay for that. Lunch will be provided, but anyone who would like to bring a salad, dessert or drinks are most welcome, it would be appreciated, thank you. Last notice: some forward planning for our Annual General Meeting. This will be held on Sunday March 29th after the Morning Praise service. If you are a member please book this date in your calendars and plan to be there. ALL SAINT’S INTERNATIONAL CONGREGATION Preaching series - Theme for 2009 GOD’S ELECTIONS! “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2: 9 CHOSEN FOR INTIMACY 2009 is the year of parliamentary elections in Lebanon (June) – crucial elections that will determine the future of Lebanon. We will be hearing a lot about this in the months to come. Let this be a reminder for us of God’s elections! God chose Jesus, and in Him he chooses us, to fulfill His good purposes for us and for the world. In our new preaching series we will look at this and ask the question: Chosen for what? To help us with this, as a post-Christmas series, we will also look at the big themes of the Old Testament (old covenant) and how they are re-defined in the coming of Jesus – “The Meaning of Messiah”. One of our themes is The Temple. In the OT, the temple was a symbol of God’s presence and holiness. How does it translate in New Testament terms, in the new covenant with God in Christ? Jesus is Emmanuel - God with us. He referred to his body as the temple, and through him we become a holy temple of God, individually and corporately - God in us, by the Holy Spirit. We are chosen for intimacy – the closest possible relationship with God. Other themes we will look at are: Priesthood, Sacrifice, People and Land. We will use the Gospel of John and the letter to the Hebrews as our main references.

As always, a group from All Saints' were roadside to cheer on the runners/walkers in the Beirut Marathon, and to be a visible presence as people passed by the church. Friday 7th was the 2nd ASIC Lock In Event. Once again there was lots of fun and very little sleep. The highlight of the night for many was the impromptu tennis court created with a couple of tables!!

Autumn Update

Our apologies for the delay in updating the All Saints' blog. Recently at ASIC, we celebrated Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday, bringing gifts of food to be donated to St Lukes, a charitable school for mentally challenged children. Young Church has started for the 2008-2009 school year. There are classes available for children in Nursery to KG2, Grades 1 to 3, Grades 4&5 and Youth Group for students in Grades 6 to 12. Young Church meets on Sunday mornings during the teaching time. All Saints' International Congregation is also back to our monthly rotation of services, all held at 11:00am. 1st Sunday - Formal Holy Communion 2nd Sunday - Worship and Word 3rd Sunday - Informal Family Communion **4th Sunday - Morning Prayer** (only if there are five Sundays in the month) Last Sunday - Morning Praise, an informal, worship lead service. Also on the last Sunday of each month at 8:00am BCP 1662 Holy Communion There is a new Alpha Course just starting today, 7th October. This is a chance to ask questions about life and the Christian faith in a safe and informal setting. Held in the All Saints' Church Hall at 7:00pm each Tuesday, with a light supper included. This Sunday, due to the Beirut Marathon, we will be holding our Communion Service up at Arab Baptist Theological Seminary , Mansourieh at 11:00am

After service there will be a community picnic at Picnic Land in Ras El Metn. Please bring your picnic lunch with you, there are facilities for cooking BBQ at Picnic Land.

Because the roads around Hamra will be closed from 7am we will try to organize transportation for those who need it from this area. If you can provide or need a ride please call Nabil or Sarah Shehadi on 01 750 694 or 03 281 388.

There have been a number of inquiries about church this Sunday because of the Parlimentary elections due to be held. According to our information, most roads to the church should be open, particularly the port (coastal) road. So we are planning to go ahead with the Morning Praise service at 11:00am in the church building. There will be a slide presentation from the Youth Retreat "Keys to the Kingdom" as well as worship and fellowship. As is usual in our Morning Praise services, there will be no Young Church (Sunday School or Youth Group), all will stay up in church together. Next Sunday June 1st is scheduled to be the Beirut Marathon, and the road to church will be closed from 7am. We will hold our service in the Arab Baptist Theology Seminary in Mansourieh at 11:00am. I hope to post a map to ABTS soon. Following church we will be having a church community 'picnic' at Dar El Awlad, Main Road, Mansourieh. This will make a nice day out for the Beirut folk! If there are people in need of transportation up from the city, we may be able to arrange something. Please contact Lindy or Nabil if you need help with this. There will be more details about the picnic to come, watch this space.

The latest news for this coming Sunday: The Bishop has postponed his trip to early June and the Confirmation Service will now be held on Tuesday 3rd June in the church building at 11:30am this Sunday. To avoid extra confusion, we will keep our service time to 11:30am for the Morning Prayer service this Sunday, and we are still planning to meet in the church building.

This week at All Saints' Beirut, May 2008

Just another update to keep you all informed on what is happening with All Saints' for the coming weekend! This Sunday the 18th of May, we are planning on meeting back in the church building in Beirut. The Bishop is currently still planning to come and the confirmation service will go ahead at 9:30am. One of our members is being confirmed at this service, which will be bi-lingual, so be encouraged to support her and attend if you can. Our International Congregation will be meeting at 11:30am (please note the later time) This is to allow extra time for the Confirmation service. It will be a Morning Prayer service and our Church Warden, Dan Chetti will be the preacher. Please keep checking this site, if there are any changes in the arrangements, they will be posted here. Looking forward...... May 25th will be our informal Morning Praise service. There will be a report back and presentation from the Youth Retreat, Keys to the Kingdom. Please note there will be no BCP 1662 Communion service at 8am this month, as Rev Nabil is out of the country. June 1st after the Holy Communion service we are planning a church community picnic, probably in Mansourieh. Keep watching for more details later, but book your diaries now!

This is to confirm that our Sunday service will be held in the Arab Baptist Theological School at 11:00am. We will meet in the temporary chapel on the first floor. Anyone who is able to make it to Mansourieh is very welcome. We are very grateful to Rev. Dickey, visiting from the UK, who will be sharing the word with us. ABTS is in Blata, just off the Mansourieh Main Road. For those who are in Ras Beirut, there will be a Prayer Meeting, either at the Vicarage or in NEST, at 11:00am. It is with sad hearts that we see what is happening in our beloved Lebanon this week. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we must cancel the trip to Aamiq tomorrow, Sat 10th. Hopefully we will be able to do it sometime in the not too distant future, when things are looking better for our country. Also, because of the situation on the roads, there will be no service held in the church building this Sunday 11th May. For those who are able to get to Mansourieh there will be a service, probably at the Arab Baptist Theological School at 11am. This is yet to be confirmed, check here for more updates, or phone Lindy Masri on 03 258 603. At this stage there will NOT be any meeting in the Ras Beirut area, but please feel free to call Rev Nabil for an update if you are there and would like to meet together, on 03 281 388 or 01 750 694. The Toads and Jungle Jam Band visit ASIC

It was a great surprise when the Jungle Jam Band came running out from the vestry, ready to share from their children's program, some songs, a bible story and testimony. The group had been visiting schools and churches with their wonderful presentation, enjoyed by children and adults alike. Many thanks to the Toads for sharing with us, their joy and love for Jesus!!!
